\"\"It is exciting to see more and more projects related to dry stone masonry in the Aegean being organised, giving us the chance to visit new places, meet new groups of people and join new initiatives, always with the common element of the love towards the land and its tradition.<\/p>\n

During the first weekend of April 2024, we had the opportunity to participate in the Dry Stone School which was organised by the team of \u201cPetra Tilos<\/a>\u201d on the beautiful island of Tilos in the Dodecanese. The project lasted 10 days in total and included dry stone restoration works, documentary screenings and lectures.<\/strong> According to the organisers, it was a celebration of getting together, learning and entertainment, the events of which were co-designed and co-realised through the weekly meetings, open to the public, which \u201cPetra Tilos\u201d held from January to March 2024.<\/p>\n

The Mitato of Amorgos travelled to Tilos following the invitation of the organisers and presented the similar projects that have been completed on the island of Amorgos. Our team also attended the practical section of the school, on the path towards Mikro Chorio, during the last two days of the apprenticeship, where local masons helped the participants, younger and older, to restore the dry stone walls along the path.<\/strong>The beautiful weather and the blossoming spring nature embraced the project and enhanced the already warm ambience in the field, where we shared knowledge, treats and music.<\/p>\n

We wish the newly founded team of \u201cPetra Tilos\u201d all the best for their beautiful work towards the preservation of the very special island of Tilos.<\/p>\n
