In the context of Erasmus+ programme, we welcomed in Amorgos the students of the Department of Management and Protection of Nature of the\u00a0Lyc\u00e9e Agricole de Matiti<\/a>, part of the French Guiana educational organisation EPLEFPA BTS, from 23 to 27 March 2026.<\/p>\nPlanning of the activity was made in collaboration with the travel agencies Offbeat\u00a0Travel<\/a>\u00a0and FindinGreece<\/a>, offering the participants the opportunity to get to know Athens too, a necessary stop on their long journey to our island.<\/p>\n During their stay on the island of Amorgos,\u00a0the 17 students and their accompanying professors worked with us in the restoration of dry stone walls in the outskirts of Langada<\/strong>, learning the craft from our craftsman Antonis Vlavianos. Furthermore, as part of their specialisation, the studied the flora and fauna of the area, particularly that of the micro-ecosystems created in dry stone structures.<\/p>\n The programme included a tour of Amorgos, offering time to familiarise with each other but also with the island and its inhabitants.<\/strong> We visited the old olive press of Langada, the Monastery of Panagia Chozoviotissa and the capital of Amorgos, Chora, coinciding with the celebrations of the Greek National Day on 25th<\/sup>\u00a0March. In addition, we enjoyed a hike in the area of Langada, so that the students could see a wider range of dry stone structures and other elements, such as cisterns, wells, stables, threshing circles and churches.
