The Workshop was organized in the area of Langada by the Mitato of Amorgos, a group whose goal is the preservation of the natural and cultural environment of Amorgos and the Cyclades in general.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">During the Workshop, four local craftsmen, <strong>masons Antonis Vlavianos, Michalis Theologitis, Antonis Synodinos and Dimosthenis Theologitis<\/strong>, led more than <strong>20 apprentices and participants in the construction of dry stone sustaining walls and cobblestone path.<\/strong>More local craftsmen, shepards and other peasants, were present at the workshop, applying the art of dry stone as they have learnt it from their forefathers and as they continue to use it in their fields.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">The result of this collective effort is a beautiful dry stone complex, organically integrated in its surrounding natural environment, which the organizers, masons and participants hope will serve as an example for similar interventions in the Amorgian landscape in the future.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Text&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.21.4&#8243; text_font=&#8221;||||||||&#8221; text_line_height=&#8221;1.6em&#8221; background_color=&#8221;rgba(158,139,1,0.11)&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;justified&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;0px|0px|0px|0px|true|true&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;20px|25px|10px|25px|false|true&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div id=\"appbar\" class=\"appbar\">\n<div id=\"extabar\">\n<div id=\"slim_appbar\" class=\"WE0UJf\">\n<div class=\"LHJvCe\">\n<h6 id=\"result-stats\"><span style=\"color: #333333; font-size: 22px;\">BEFORE - AFTER<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_gallery gallery_ids=&#8221;684,682,683&#8243; posts_number=&#8221;3&#8243; show_title_and_caption=&#8221;off&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;3.21.4&#8243; pagination_font=&#8221;||||||||&#8221; pagination_text_align=&#8221;center&#8221; background_color=&#8221;rgba(158,139,1,0.11)&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;|||&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;|||47px&#8221; animation_style=&#8221;zoom&#8221;][\/et_pb_gallery][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;3.21.4&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><strong>Within the context of the Workshop, lectures were presented<\/strong> in the evening hours, where several issues related to dry stone were discussed, as well as topics related to the role of dry stone structures, such as terraces, in the environment, tradition and culture. Lectures were presented by Mr Rigas Zafeiriou from the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/med-ina.org\/\">Mediterranean Institute for Nature and Anthropos (Med-INA)<\/a><\/strong>, Mr Grigoris Koutropoulos and Mr Panagiotios Kostoulas from the itinerant workshop on traditional building techniques <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.boulouki.org\/\">Boulouki<\/a><\/strong>, Dr Theodora Petanidou from the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aegean.gr\/\">University of the Aegean<\/a><\/strong>, architects <strong>Mrs Eleni Pangratiou-Alexaki, Dr Ioulia Papaeftychiou<\/strong> and <strong>Dr Vivianna Metallinou<\/strong>, Mr Andreas Maniatis, representing the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/anthitispetras.gr\/index.php\/en\/\">Blossoming Stones<\/a> <\/strong>from Langadia, Arkadia, and <strong>Mr Ioannis Lagos<\/strong>, president of the Panhellenic Confederation of Social Economy Unions.\n\nThe Dry Stone Workshop \u201cThe Amorgian Craftsmanship\u201d concluded with a beautiful farewell ceremony on the evening of 15<sup>th<\/sup> October 2021, where a first report of the project was presented and certificates and souvenirs were awarded to participants.
