The Mitato of Amorgos greatly regrets to announce the cancellation of the 3rd Dry Stone Workshop “The Amorgian Craftsmanship” which was due to be held on the island of Amorgos from 16 to 20 October 2023.
Unfortunately, despite our timely actions, we had to face a new situation from part of the local community at the last minute, and therefore any readjustment of the organization of the event was impossible.
Our feelings are even deeper as this year we would have the opportunity to work in a new area of Amorgos, on the occasion of the celebration of the completion of 20 years since the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (UNESCO 2003).
However, we must adjust to changes that occur at any given time and in no way do we wish to provoke sentiments of confusion or division among people. Our aim is always the common good for our islands, their communities and traditions and the only –yet the most meaningful- reward for our efforts is their acceptance and promotion by locals, participants, guests and the well-bonded team that is created around our projects.
Therefore we would like to keep the positive aspect of this cancellation and put all our efforts towards the successful organization of the next Dry Stone Workshop in 2024!
