The Network for Sustainable Cyclades, the Cultural Association of Angeria, the Association of Friends of Paros and Antiparos, the Progressive Association of the Lefkians of Athens and the MEEAS Yria of Lefkes organised a series of eight spatial planning workshops on the preservation of the Cycladic identity of Paros during March and April 2024.

It was our pleasure and honour to be invited as speakers in the last weekend of this series of events, on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April 2024. During the second day, we discussed the role of civil society in preserving the Cycladic landscape. We presented projects in Greece and abroad, completed or in progress, which can serve either as examples for further actions by more groups or as incentives for new collaborations and new, broader ideas.

The event hosted more lectures regarding the rural landscape of the islands and the threats it faces, the challenges of the marine environment, the pressures on resources but also proposals for cooperation between independent groups and the local administration.

We would like to warmly thank the hosts for the opportunity they gave us to visit Paros once more and take part in the very interesting projects realised on the island.

+ The complete video of all lectures presented on the weekend 20-21 April 2024 is available on the Network for Sustainable Cyclades website. .
