Participation in the first European Network Meeting of the Programme for Culture and Engagement LOKAL

The Mitato of Amorgos was pleased and honoured to be among the organisations invited to attend the first European Network Meeting of the Programme for Culture and Engagement  LOKAL, organised from 21 to 24 April 2026 in Świdnica, Lower Silesia (Poland) by the European Cultural Foundation  , the Kulturstiftung des Bundes  (German Federal Cultural Foundation) and the bpb – Bundeszentral für politische Bildung  (German Federal Agency for Civic Education).

The programme LOKAL supports cultural organisations by helping them form new partnerships, from local businesses to community groups, and develop collaborative artistic projects rooted in everyday life. This first network meeting marked the beginning of a wider European exchange, where experiences are shared across contexts to strengthen connection and cohesion.

During the meeting, we attended lectures and panel talks, took part in working groups and workshops, seizing the opportunity to communicate with people and organisations from all over the European continent. Furthermore, we presented the projects of the Mitato of Amorgos, in the context of participants’ poster presentations. What’s more, we had the chance to get acquainted with the culture and gastronomy of Lower Silesia, a beautiful corner of Poland, rich in history, nature and local production.

Overall, the meeting presented an excellent opportunity to network and update on current cultural trends and projects all over Europe, as well as to ponder and share proposals but also concerns for the future.
